I'm not even sure the guy can do it honestly. Clifford is just sitting in the driveway with everything apart still. I found a pack of GM replacement bolts (M8 X 1.25 X 45mm Grade 8.8 11588727) that's hopefully the right size, so that's a plus.

It's way back there too.

Grade 8? The OEM bolts are likely a 5 (maybe less), which means they break before stripping the doo doo out of the aluminum block. 8s are some hard chit, be careful with that, if you happen to break one of those, carbon drill bits are not gonna do it.

These are the ones I took off-

You're correct Doc, 8.8 metric is equal to a Grade 5. I looked back at the bolt description and it is a Grade 8.8 so I got that confused, sorry about that.

It is, I'm having doubts about getting it out the easy way. Probably will have to remove the timing case.

Now, you're on the right track,> remove the front cover to remove the broken bolt with ease.Btw, inspect the chain while in there.

Quick update: Ended up extracting it out, so glad this is over, learned my lesson about torque specs. This is the kit I used if anyone else runs into a similar situation, worked out geat!

it was worth a shot.

If that extractor thing broke off in there, I guess the worst thing that would happen is you taking the timing cover off.
