Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
Last week I was running errands. I stopped outside Auto Zone to pick up some brake fluid. Hummer is running perfectly fine.
I come back out, stick the key in the ignition, no crank, no click, nothing.
Key is also now stuck in the ignition and can not be shifted out of park.
No dash, no radio, but power locks working, interior light working, power seats working...
I get a jump from Auto Zone - Nothing,
I get the mechanic from the garage across the street to try and jump it - nothing.
The battery is showing to be fine, it is only a year old (I am aware of battery issues for H3's)
Tow Truck arrives and take the Hummer to my mechanic.
The rundown from the mechanic as of Saturday:
Need to replace ignition lock housing
Need to replace ignition cylinder
+ Rekey
As of today they have now mentioned it looks like the BCM...
I have owned this truck for 20 years, and I work on this truck for most minor things. I have experienced a suddenly dead a battery before... - But I have never experienced anything like this!

Are you still trying to use the OEM Battery Terminal Connectors? If so bad idea, known failure point, look it up and replace with a quality aftermarket set like Stingers.
You likely do NOT have to re-key or replace the ignition switch. If you change the Ignition Switch the cylinder is a separate part and you keep the original key. If you had a real mechanic, they would know that.

I smell bull chit!
Let's start with some basics shall we....
1. Battery cables/ ends
2. Grounds located behind air box and nearest ebcm, abs on fire wall
3. Battery
4. Cleaning all grounds and checking starter
5. Find a knowledgeable mechanic
Yes it has a sunroof. Never fixed the grommets - but to my knowledge there was never an issue with leaking (perhaps this is something that went unnoticed?). The truck lived for 15 years in a rainy climate but always stored in a garage, and has lived for the past 5 years in a dry climate with very little rain exposure.
Update: No code- "Fault: No communication with BCM"
I don't know if that is the verbatim reading, but that is what they have said.
A Body Control Module (BCM) typically goes bad due to water intrusion/moisture corrosion or electrical surges (short circuits or improper jump-starts).
