Oil Pump Hummer h3 3.7 2009 crashed
My 2009 hummer 3.7 broke the engine because the oil pump failed. The engine was original and only had 27,000 miles on it. The pump is all grated inside, it was genuine gm.. Is there a better oil pump than the original one for sale that has this defect corrected?
Could someone point me to a good brand or send me a website that has one? Thanks.

All auto parts are man made, and therefore have a failure rate. There are H3s/Colorado and Canyon I5s out there with 300,000 miles on the original GM oil pump. Just because yours quit does not mean they are all bad.
I have seen people rebuild a motor and replace an original oil pump with an new aftermarket supposedly better replacement, only to find that when the fire up the rebuilt motor the new oil pump failed immediately. Anything is possible.
If it were me, I would stick with the OEM oil pump on an I5 motor.
Good luck.
