Default No shift into 3rd gear

Folks, Getting ready to take my H3 to a transmission shop. Why? Because of all the great info on this forum (and no I didn't try the Seafoam)

2008 H3 automatic 155,000 miles
In D would not shift into 3rd gear, engine RPM just reved up like it was slipping
1st and 2nd worked fine. Downshifting was fine (coasted down a large hill in D and as vehicle slowed to around 25 MPH it caught 2nd gear
Putting in 1 or 2 on shift lever works fine. 3 just revs and goes nowhere
Trans light on with a code (forget the code) that pointed to the TCC
changed the TCC and the two shift solenoids and filter
fluid was light brown not much red but not burnt. No idea when it was serviced last
light gone, no codes, fluid at proper level but still same problem
throwing in the towel and going to a trans shop
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well, some times it is just time for a rebuild. When I get there I view it as the opportunity for a huge upgrade.

I agree @200k+. Most 4L60E transmission shifting issues are minor repair to fix, yet many go straight to a rebuild.

Update. It wasn't the trans light, it was the check engine light but it was slipping and wouldn't shift into third. rebuild and works fine. Now the Serv 4WD message came on and went out so I'll search the forums for that.

OK so thanks Guru's for the clarity. The 6 tranny is a bad idea...
