Shafts have SPLINES, not teeth. Gears have teeth.

I made a mistake. The front cardan is very weak for such a mass of the car (and the front axle). In the mountains it often breaks under load.

Update - I have NOT attempted this project yet. Hummer has just been sitting because I was stressed about it. Went to move it out of the drive way into the garage to start troubleshooting but it drove fine? Went into hear perfectly and drove with no issues. So now I'm even more confused. Could there me an issue with the shift motor going bad? Ant thoughts?
