Default same problem hear

In the winter the battery dies on my H3 constantly. And then i have the same problem with my window and locks ive put a new battery in the past 3 winters and keep having the same problem year after year. I obvoiusly got a drain somewhere. I seen someone post something about the door plug i wonder if water is getting in there and freezing and creating a short thats draining my battery? Wierd how it only happens in the winter and not a single problem all summer long. Any more info on the door plug or wear i can start to look for my battery drain would be appreciated. Thanks

first find out the leakage. unhook one batt cable and connect a digital meter on amps WITH ALL DOORS CLOSED.
it reads about 2 amps for apx one minute then 110 ma. that's apx 1/10 of an amp, not much. if you are higher then you have leakage.
you can select fuses to pull to find it.

with batt connected normally the volts on it are apx 12v till you start, then it jumps to apx 15v briefly, then a little lower.

its good to do a comp on a same/similar car.

winter only?. sometime a marginal batt or alt charging will be happy in warm weather and not hold up in cold.
does the volts go up to 15 on start?

The battery charged back up fully but if I remember rightly, the drivers side window wouldn't work, door locks wouldn't work and the check engine light was on. I read up on a previous post about disconnecting the battery leads, holding them together and then replace the leads back on the battery after 5 mins. I had never heard of this before but thought I'd try it. Well to my amazement, it was all back to normal and has been for the last year !Apparenty, it resets the computer.
Just my 2 cents!
Tried this....also have a Professional battery charger on low settings three days to completely recharge my battery...did the ridiculous disconnect/ reconnect thing ( Which I thought was a purely BMW fix....cars there NOTORIOUSLY since 2003 battery voltage dependent) and nada...windows stuck down. Very irritating.
