My 07 adventure came with 285, when I went to 305 MTZs (MeaTZs ) which are 1" wider and still 33" tall so I retained the final drive ratio I started with, and with performance mods I have overcome my off road mods to actually end up with better MPG than I started with bone stock. I keep the MTZs @ 40 PSI cold on the street.
Performance Mods: Air Doc Intake w/ K&N filter, PCM tune, MagnaFlow CAT Back, Efan conversion, port/polish TB .... = lots of extra balz.
Off Road Mods: Leveled the front across L to R, and up to 23.4" [hub center to fender] or so, Rocky Road Super Sliderz, BA winch bumper w/ MM9500, Roc Doc Rear Diff Cover and U Bolt Skidz .... = aero hit and lots of extra weight.
Where you kill MPG is how you start from a stop, be easy in that department alone and it will help a lot. I also never go more that 75/76 MPH on the Eway. No point in being in a hurry driving a brick. 17.5-18 MPG all the time, and a tad better on the Hwy.
