I did too. Lucky my scanner had that ABS feature.

Figured this thread was still recent enough to bring back to the top page. I called my local GM dealership in Kansas yesterday to ask about programming a second keyless entry fob that I have laying around. Previous, and much older, posts had indicated that it would be anywhere from $25-50 for the dealer to program a new fob. To my surprise (even though I really shouldn't have been), they informed me that all key fob programming is charged at a flat rate of $189.99! Just thought I'd tack on one more reason to avoid the dealership at all costs.

Glad I searched the forum one more time, though, because this scanner tool looks pretty sweet. Thinking about just purchasing this instead and trying my luck with reprogramming both keys as well as having the ability to do/monitor countless other things.

Does this scanner come ready right out the box to plug and go?
i.e.. is the software preinstalled? Or do you have to first monkey around trying to install it?
I'm ready to pull the trigger ..kind of of excited to see what it can actually do.

Ordered the unit yesterday. Hoping it can display real time o2s data and other modules.
It sure will be nice to have more capabilities than simply reading codes.
Also, no more running to vato zone just to figure out the bigger stuff my lil code reader can't.
I will say my lil code reader has been a money saver though.

 

 

Well.. I received the i400 and very excitedly wanted to experience the unit.
I read all the directions included. Plugged in to the DLC. Then it hit me...

Pros:
It is nicely designed
Comes with a blow mold holding case
Comes with longer cable
Comes with a thumb drive to facilitate in registration (have yet to do this step) (but a nice touch)
Comes with directions

Cons:
The interface is very dated (I keep feeling like it is early 2000's)
The buttons are slow to respond
The interface is slow

For less than $200 you get a scanner that is quite capable. There is room for improvement.
I will keep the unit, because you get a lot of features that will work for the average shade tree mechanic.
The ability to program remotes is worth the price of entry but if your looking for 2022 tech this may not be for you.

I give the unit 3 lug nutz out of 5

I really wanted a gui interface with drag and drop, click just like an Samsung or iPhone but hey for under $200 it is damn near a Tech 2 clone...
It really is pretty nice.

Btw, there's a lot of $$$$ in the software, gui interface capability would add a lot more$$$$!

the interface is very similar to the clunkiness of the tech 2 just a different form factor for the housing.
