Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
I have been intouch with Bryan with LANTERNMARK for H3 Jounce Shocks. His company was Light Racing before he sold to SPC I beieve he said. He still has the drawings and one front set for the H3. I asked him for a full front and rea set and he has agreed to get that rolling; no word on pricing yet but these weren't cheap tobegin with.
I am gauging interest for the Jounce Shock/Bumper as I figure most of the forum members have leveled their ride and noticed front end dive if using the OEM short bumpers or a harsher ride with the non progressive TD extended bumpers.
Bryan said he can give a progress report later this week and the actual jounce shocks are in stock; just not the weld on brakets.
I've been using stock OEM Jounce/Bumbers for 13 years on two different H3s with either the OEM Off Road Suspension Shocks or the Old Man Emu NitroChargers on my Alpha with T Bars adjusted to 23.5", have zero use for anything different. I also note that not being in contact with the Lower A Arm Bump Stops actually rides better than that ridiculous OEM idea of using them as progressive dampeners.
IMHO they have one purpose, to cushion the front suspension when fully compressed so as not to have any lower A Arm contact directly with the Frame. That is the reason they are on most every other vehicle, got nothing to do with ride.
So the jounce stops/shocks wont work in your opinion?
I gatta say Doc, im kinda surprised From your post as I could feel a worse ride after leveling my T with the oem stops and then driving her with the TD extended ones Too were worse. OEMs gave nose dive and TDs give a harsh ride and less wheel travel; well maybe not if theres a lot of weight upfront; all i have extra upfront is a grill guard.
My goal is to drive fast in rutted out roads, not rock climb.
I am really trying to gauge if others might be interested in a group buy AND if anyone has them already and how they like ‘em.
Here is my 07, the 09 has the same set up, "nose dive" only happens when you brake hard to a stop, the rest of the time the truck never has contact with the bump stops until wheeling and flexing. There is no right or wrong answer, I don't need anything other than OEM bump stops. I had to replace the fronts on the 09 as they were destroyed before I bought it, the left side was half gone. The prior owner never leveled the front, so it always sat on the stops and age/miles took their toll.
Driving feel is subjective and also depends on the vehicle and how much leveled you are. When I did my 06 to 23.5, it felt floaty at 70 mph and didnt like it, went with TD stops and it feels good. On my Alpha, which has stiffer t-bars, the ride felt stiff with the TD stops so I removed them. I instead went with slightly longer oem stops made for a tahoe/suburban. They are half an inch longer and progressive. Ride feel is much better over the TD stops and slightly better over oem.
Update: Im ordering the extended oem stops and I just reached out to Mark with LANTERNMARK just to follow up with him. He said last week it will take two weeks to get a full set of brackets fabricated. Ill follow up when I hear back from him.
If anyone else is interested let me know so LANTERNMARK can get a ball park on number of brakets to make.
