Default I5 Cold air intake .... could it be that easy ??

On the H3 OK What am I missing................... but seems like I can remove he lid and Viola I have a Cold Air intake system now...... MAF still in place. Am I missing something ?

Am a little concerned the way the actual filter sits at its open end but all seems OK ?

Anyone running this way ?

No, it's not that easy. The resonator on top of the engine is what restricts the air. That's what you need to change. Personally, I don't like those kits that have an exposed air filter. In my opinion, the AirDoc is the best option for updating your intake.

I think you are missing the fact that an aftermarket CAI is a more efficient and direct path for the incoming cold air. This is achieved by the removal of the resonator (intake muffler) and replacing it with a larger diameter straight pipe.

Open the lid of an 06/07 air filter box, and you have a warm air intake.
It might make some noise, but you loose what you think you are gaining by adding temp to the intake air.

Get rid of the resonator box and keep the lid on the air filter box, then you have access to the outside the underhood air for your intake charge.

Default Great idea

Once the little connector between the airbox and the fender got loose and my airbox was basically sucking the hot engine bay in. Talk about a hit for gas mileage! Performance wasnt better either! The needle was dropping faster than what my cammed LS pulls!

Im only getting about 14.5 mpg mixed driving but not off road yet. Maybe a good CAI will increase it. H3 with the 3.5L does seem very under powered.
