I love my 2007 Hummer... BUT... The GPS SUCKS, big time! It definitely shows how old it is....

What do you all think is the best replacement? I need it to work with OnStar (downloadable directions) and also have XM/Serius and CD/DVD.

Also would ne nice to actually SHOW the route on the screen, not just a computer telling me where to turn... You know, like modern ones... lol

Thanks everyone.

Mine have always showed the route as well as turns to make and a marker where you are on the highland route.

Not sure why yours does not.

I vote for a new head unit that supports Mirrorlink/MHL or an iPhone connection and use your smartphone's GPS apps. Maps stay more up to date, different gps software options, support for other apps, cheaper up front than built-in GPS and no yearly costs. With the right connection and software, you can even use an external GPS connected through the head unit itself.

Of course none of this has anything to do with onstar or XM/Serious, but with the right adapter to keep onstar and a head unit that supports XM/Serious you're set.

Other advantages, you get to add bluetooth through the stereo if you don't already have it as well as a good size screen and input for a back up camera.

You might just have a problem with your unit as a posed to the factory head unit being "old" school.
My 07 head unit shows the route and cursor even my older 2010 disc shows dirt roads high up in the desert, like (NF) National Forest roads.
I rely heavily on this unit when I am off road.
