Unnecessarily overly sensationalized article title... but I'm sure more than a few here will appreciate the overdue attention that was needed from GM for the blower motor resistor issue. You can find them on eBay for ~$20-$30. It is part # 15-80647.

Is this the resistor fix for when you twist the temp select - it either blows cold a/c or blazing hot?

The problem is not fixed by just getting a new resistor module. If that's all you needed then you were lucky.

The problem is a loose connection in the connector between the resistor module and the wiring harness. The loose connection causes overheating of the harness, connector and module. The connector then melts and shorts out the resistor module which means that you loose the speed control. That's where the possible fire can occur. I've seen melted and burnt connectors.

The fix includes a new resistor module PLUS at least a new connector and maybe replacement of parts of the wiring harness.

So if we soldered in a resistor to fix the climate control issue...

What happens if we get a new resistor module put in?

On my 2010, it was fixed under warranty and then 18 months later I had to go out of pocket to have it fixed (cost $500+).

The A/C lately has been having some issues (only after about 12 months), so I hope this recall solves this issue.

Now I have to see if I can get that money back...

I contacted my local dealer and he plans on changing out this resistor and harness on my 3, but he states this is not a recall from GM.
He claims it is a courtesy change out of an old superseded part.
Does that makes sense to anyone ??

Your dealer is full of crap. I just called my dealer..Mark Martin..of race car fame..and the Service Mgr. has the info....but no part to fix !!..SO..I called HUMMER..It is a GM recall...N150042..6/2015..BUT..no replacement parts are available yet. They will send letters when one is available for the repair..Any GM dealer can do the fix..

I had a feeling the dealer was misinformed.
I also saw the recall number on the GM web site.
My next service is coming up, hopefully he will have the parts.
Thanks

GM lists a phone number for Hummer. I called..Girl took my info. and VIN. Said letters will be going out. This is an EXPENSIVE repair if we have to pay for it. My '06 LUX. only has 29k miles, but it can happen anytime.. Members should contact dealers and stay on top of this..and report any progress...
