Default hummer h3 rear main seal leaking

I have a 2006 hummer h3 it currrently has 104,000 kms on it. approx 60,000 miles. My rear main seal has been leaking for the past 4000 kms. It used to leak just a little bit where it didnt seem like a major issue. I put a K&N air filter on it last week, and ever since then the oil has been leaking really bad, every morning I have to fill up about half a litre of oil.. and when I start up the hummer it makes an awful noise as if metal on metal..once I hear the noise I immediately shut it off, dump some oil into it, start it up and within 20 seconds the noise stops. Ohh and when it makes that noise it also shoots white smoke out of the exhaust. Once more oil is put in, the white smoke stops.
I have an appointment with a local shop to have the rear main seal replaced this friday for right around $1000. Dealer was charging me $1400.

Anybody else have this problem? if so, at how many Km and how much did you pay. Is this a common issue?

When I get the hummer back I will be replacing the tranny and transfer case fluid, diff fluid, and replacing rear shocks
Also... I noticed I am leaking a bit of rad fluid from the rad cap, and it is leaking down my fan (only residue though)

Thanks in advance!!

leaky seals dont make metalic noises or smoke. you have other troubles, plural.

white smoke is often coolant/water in the cylinder. head gasket leak

would it be safe to say that when there is a low level of oil that it makes a metal on metal noise? because as soon as I put more oil in, the noise and white smoke stops

The noise is kind of like a whining noise. When this noise happened it also caused my accessory belt to squeak/squeel so i replaced that. When I pull the dipstick, white smoke comes from there as well. Is there a possibility of a bad PCV/OSV ???
If it is the head gasket.. would it be too late for some head gasket sealer fluid?

out of about 15 starts, it made the noise 5 times. Today it never made the noise at all and drives perfectly. rear main seal will be replaced tomorrow evening

you might be throwing money away. the r m s is not causing white smoke and noises. you should prob look for a good used engine and new rad.

Exclamation 2006 Hummer H3 issues

Hi
Since I bought it I has been with several issues
At 85000 m the shift fork got bad and was replaced
at 95000 check engine light came on,code po301 302, 2 coils has to be replaced
two weeks later, check engine light came on again, code po171 system too lean, we found that vacuum hose was defective, I got replaced, check engine light went off, but its was consuming a lot of gas. Normally was making 15-17mpg, now its making 11 mpg, and to make the matters worse, now with 114000m, rear main seal begin leaking oil.
Look like GM was making high price junk, that's not fair, I never has too many issues on my other cars, I am GM fan but now with those issues I donot think I would buy another GM
I have a Silverado 2500, Malibu Maxx, Venture and I never ever has those issues, until now with this mdfk hummer.
