H3 Oil light
The oil light comes on after driving about 20-30 minutes. I check the oil and it is bone dry. Smoke and a smell of burnt oil come from the exhaust.
This weekend All 5 spark plugs were changed and the 3rd coil pack from the front to the back was changed. Anyone know what would be going on?
Also, it had a small leak but had fixed it; now its leaking from another location. I'll have to wait till later this evening to figure out where exactly

how many miles on the engine?
how long between oil changes?
it is not unusual for an older vehicle to burn some oil. most brand new vehicles allow for up to two quarts to burn beteween oil changes.
if you are running 5000 miles between oil changes (SYNTHETIC) you could burn half the oil on an older vehicle, that could show a dry dipstick. doesn't mean you are out of oil.
how many quarts did you have to put in it to show it full? I'm assuming you topped it off after finding it dry.

So i bought it February 5th. The oil light came out the next day which i got a oil change (SYNTHETIC). I took it to the mechanic for a check up it needed a few thing; power steering pump, replace the hoses to the transmission. Last Wednesday the oil light came on after driving to work about 40 minutes. Left work went to school which was about 10 minutes, the oil light came on and dinged. I checked it after class and it was bone dry. I added two bottles and thought i would be ok. Dip stick showed full so i went to base; another 25 minutes and my oil light came on again. Dips stick showed bone dry so i added 2 more bottles. It started smoking and running extremely rough. I tried to drive it home but the first 10 minutes of driving it the light came on again and more dinging. So i had it towed home.
Last weekend is when we changed the spark plugs and 3rd coil pack. I took it to school and again the light came on with dinging and a lot of smoke.
It might be time to look at a couple things.
Under the center resonator on the engine (top boxy thing) there should be a small-ish black hose nearest the back ...make certain it is not dry rotted or missing.
Visually inspect the engine (with armor off) and see if there is any leaking at rear main seal, oil pan, valve cover, etc..
It would also be wise at this point to do a full compression test and for good measure a leak down test.
Check to make certain the screens have not dislodged themselves from the cam shaft actuator.
Run a 32oz bottle of Marvel Mystery oil with your engine oil.
Also, ditch the synthetic oil and go with old fashion 10w-30 or maybe a lil bit heavier grade. Honey motor oil could be added too.
