Default H3 Alpha click sound when accelerating

My 08 H3 Alpha makes a clicking sound, sounds like a nail in a tire. When I first start it, I hear it a little bit, but when I accelerate, the sound accelerates too. The best way to describe the sound is that it is 3 clicks, then a pause, and the rhythm gets faster as I accelerate. I can go months without hearing it, then I'll hear it for a few days. Could it be a solenoid somewhere ?

If you have Chrome Wheels check for flaking. Mine was peeling on the inside and contacting the Caliper.

I do have a lot of flaking from my chrome wheels, think you are exactly right. Never would have thought of that. Thanks for the idea.
