I bought some inexpensive ones just for the purpose of seeing if it was indeed the problem. Should I upgrade them ?

I've performed thousands of electrical connections over the years. Indoor simply connect the wires to the switch/outlet/panel/etc and secure tight, DONE. When you have connections exposed to the elements(unprotected and exposed to rain, wind, cold, heat, or other natural elements), take more precautions to prevent moisture intrusion/corrosion/contact failure, and properly seal/protect connections.

Those aren't "encapsulated" either. That is a simple hard plastic cover on the top/sides, open at the end and the bottom.

"Encapsulated" was the wrong term, but I get what he meant. The plastic covering is a layer of protection in the event of a collision bending the hood, or if the batter becomes partially dislodged, into contact with the top of the battery causing a short/sparks.

The battery terminal is encapsulated(TO ENCLOSE IN) also use a gasket/protector on the battery terminal.

I know; I was just in the mood to poke the bear, that's all! Hummerz is normally so adamant about definitions that I thought I'd point out the difference between "encapsulated" and "covered".

I would consider an upgrade. The ones you show from Amazon have weaknesses that might require regular attention and cause problems long-term.

My OEMs are still doing the job.

Here's what I use; Duralast, available at Autozone for $32 ($17 for the pos, $15 for the neg). I've had them on for at least 8 years now:
