Default General Maintenance Today

Well, the spark plugs that have gone over 87,000 miles didn't look that bad...of course, others would disagree, so...I will not post any photos. Yes, I used new AC Delco Iridium plugs!
The power steering fluid was only slightly dark... another good signal...again, no photos will be posted. I am trying to help the power steering system last as long as possible.
The first oil and filter change since I purchased my H3 was just fine. Again, slightly dark...not at all terrible! Only about 3,000 miles on the oil and filter anyway! I changed to MOBIL synthetic!
MY goal of replacing all fluids in the H3 has now been completed. I also wanted to replace the spark plugs before the 90,000 mile mark.
I am pleased with the maintenance schedule and it is running just fine!

No mention of both differentials, transmission and Tcase? Those are the most neglected fluids besides brake fluid.

TAINTER,
I have completed those fluid changes months ago!
Purchase date: Oct. 2022.
Mileage. 84,515
On Oct. 20,2022 ALL FLUIDS were replaced.
(Except power steering and engine oil.)
Mileage: 84,986 So, I basically had ALL FRESH FLUIDS IN THE H3... within a few days after buying it.
The MB dealer I bought the H3 from had changed the engine oil, filter and air filter a few days before I purchased it! They also installed a new battery, four new HD shocks, power steering fluid, windshield wipers, tires, etc.
I have paid close attention to other posts regarding the failure of the power steering pump and system. That is why I decided to change the power steering fluid AGAIN in such a short period of time! My goal is to protect the power steering system!
I may also install a MAGNEFINE on-line filter to remove ferrous and non-ferrous particles from the fluid.

Tainter,

I agree with you about the importance of simple fluid changes!
So very important and less expensive in the long run.

At, 85,903...I also had the alignment done. At that time, i felt that the vast majority of important maintenance points had been accomplished.
I might also point out that I use a can of Seafoam every time I fill up with gas.
Yes, that is overkill...but it is.important to me.
Thank you for your reply, Tainter!

Golden "Overkill Maintenance" Hurricane.

You are on top of it man, no dust settling there. I will be backing off on work hours this holiday season to catch up on things that need attention.

I might do a bottle of Seafoam one or twice a year, maybe. I always put one in when I shut down the Alpha for the winter roads season which will be very, too soon, any time now.

Doc Olds,

Fortunately, we don't have ice and snow like you do. I have always enjoyed snow and even some ice...
I use Seafoam for everything! Never have had an issue with a carb or fuel injector. I buy a case at a time from a local store. I help him out and he gives me a discount. I'm fortunate that we can afford it.

I don't understand why someone would shut down an Alpha for winter. Wouldn't that be the time to drive it more?

A lot of fun to drive with snow covered roads!
