Gas Mileage..?
Dont kill me if this has been discussed before but i looked through 14 pages and didnt find much of anything. I have a 2007 Dodge Nitro now and after driving a customers H3 yesterday Im really interested in it. Esp with what I can make it look like with some after market goodies(cant do anything to the Nitro)
So before i make the switch from Dodge to Hummer I want to make sure im not downgrading mpg wise. My nitro gets around 14 in the city and I havent seen anything better then 18mpg on the highway and thats with cruise set and a K&N Drop in.
So what are you guys getting stock? Do aftermarket parts as in intakes free flowing exhaust and a tune help MPG?
Thanks for any help

I would say that you get about the same on the H3 as you Nitro, the 06 is worst when it comes to milage as far as I understand. My wife used to have an 06 and I sold it last summer and got her a 08 Alpha and the Alpha is getting way better highway milage than the 5-cylinder. Got a catback system (mostly for the sound) and recently got a fashpaq and that also improved the milage of the Alpha now I am about to add a CAI as well and hopefully that will give even better milage. I love the power of the V8 Alpha so I strongly recommend it if you have the money. (I pay almost $9 a gallon where I live so I do what I can to get the best mpg I can

I have an 06 with 133,000 miles on it and it gets 12-14 in the city and 18-20 on the highway. The only mods are an air doc intake and spectre air filter. It really matters how you drive it. If you like to haul a@@ you're mileage will suffer.
Here is mine for a real world reference....
2010 Adventure/I-5
Pretty much stock
34,000 miles +/-
17.5 mpg average city/highway (figured old school - miles driven divided by gallons used)
However, if I ever get around to putting my Winch Bumper, Gobi and 35's back on.....mpg's will probably drop back down to +/- 14 mpg.
I keep it pretty calm in the city and go with the flow (70-75 mph) on the highway.
At some point, I'll get another AirDoc intake which seemed to help the mpg's a bit on my other two HUMMERs.
As for the Nitro vs. H3 ...... I do not think you would regret moving up.

Ok, I don't understand something. I drive like a sensible person (I.e. staying under 3k rpms most of the time) and even before my lift, tires, and roof rack, I was only gettin MAYBE 13.5 city 18 hwy. Now I get like 11 city 9.8 highway. Yes, I get lower on the freggin highway than I do in the city. I have 35" duratracs(ik that is hurting) gobi stealth, torsion level, and a k&n intake. Someone please explain. Sorry to thread jack.

Your problem may be due to the torsion level, that is instead of a slight rake, your have altered the driving force of the Hummer. It's still a brick, but instead of having the brick come at the wind at a slight angle, it's now coming head on....................
I'm not ruling out warmer weather or the switch away from winter gas (not sure when this change actually takes place), but a couple months ago I switched from filling up at Conoco to Chevron and immediately saw a 1-2 mpg improvement. Take this with a grain of salt but in my experience I always get better mpg in the summer (possibly weather related as much or more than the difference in gas formula) and generally get an extra 1-2 mpg when I fill up at Chevron. Doesn't sound like much, but in a a 14-16 mpg truck it's roughly 10%.
