electrical power drainage
My 2010 H3 has been at a GM dealership since May 2018. I took it in for a state inspection, but the "check engine" light was on. They have determined that the light is on because of a "connection problem". In the meanwhile, when they were checking why the light was on, they first thought that it was the security system, so they replaced it. Then they thought it was the battery cables...replaced them. Then, the battery and alternator...replaced both. The check engine light has not turned off from all this. So, I decide to go get it, I'll deal with the light on.When I go to get it, the battery is dead. they have tried everything to figure out what's going on, but they can charge it, and the next morning, dead again. They have hooked all sorts of meters to it, gauges, computer programs (from GM), and they cannot figure why the battery keeps draining. And yes, they have double checked (and more) that the battery and alternator are still good. Last I heard, if it stays in the shop, it will stand a better chance of not losing its charge, but outside...it's a definite.
Anybody ever heard of this...have a clue what it might be?? And by the way...my H3 is as original as the day it came off the line. There has been noting added to it.
Thanks for anything on this problem.

Welcome to HF.
A dealer is the LAST place on earth I would take an out of warranty vehicle to for service. I moved this as the New Member Section is not for tech questions.
Model and Miles are important. Are we talking about an I5 or Alpha, how many miles on it, any recent service just before this all started????
"Nothing added" means you are still using the POS crappy azzed OEM Battery Terminals, which should be the first thing replaced on every H3.
Next, open the back door, look between the chassis and the bumper for the wires leading to the license plate (and/or trailer receptacle if it has one) and see if the wire harness is rubbing the chassis. If you wear through the insulation you will have a short that will kill the battery. Not uncommon for H3s, check it out.
