Way to be nice about it talus. I was only going by what I was told. This also changes nothing about the quality of the Monsoon system. Maybe you could have cleared things up earlier in the post.

Not having an appropriate Hanyes manual for this truck I am still learning it. So now I have an amp to buy to replace that stock one. Cheers!

i afraid that everything you write adds to the confusion.

Yes the 6 disc player in H3's use an amp to power the speakers for all models. No ifs and or buts about it. I just think the OP was confused (which is easy to do b/c the audio wiring on the H3's can be a bit tricky to follow) and when he got the aftermarket system they cut all the factory wires and ran new ones so they didn't even look for the amp.

If anyone was interested in the Crutchfield articles I was speaking about where they compared the sound quality after each piece of gear was added to the truck here it is. That is the main page w/videos and articles for the 2 parts of the article:

Putting Car Audio to the Test

Nothing wrong with the quality of the Monsoon system, As far as stock systems go it puts out terrific sound. Coming from an 07 lux Monsoon equipped just last week traded in for an 09 T without it I can tell you for a fact the Monsoon system is a hell of a lot nicer sounding system. Since wiring a factory one in would be a ridiculous headache I opted for a complete aftermarket system after checking my facts and not just "going by what I was told, which should be here late this week ".

You think your door speakers are not getting enough air, even though they have the whole door to work with for your volume theory? Lol while your taking that monsoon speaker into the audio shop for them to laugh at take that theory with you too.

Take the time to educate yourself on a subject before you start posting things as facts in crap threads.

one thing i preach is getting a manual, cheap, and just look at the wiring info. its not complex when you just look at it. its crystal clear.
my book does not show the h3t wiring/speakers. im guessin the 6x9's do the wooffin.
without the print you shoot blind.

Look, I am just trying to upgrade my system. I had three different people giving me input on how this system works. It's not like there are H3T experts everywhere. I never claimed to be a stereo expert. That is why I am here, to get info on my truck. Sorry my first stereo guy gave me wrong info on the amp situation. He bypassed it for future amp upgrades. I figured we all have a certain thing in common, and that is we all enjoy hummers.

I stand by my friends advice to put spacers in the speakers. It worked very well and improved the sound greatly, if you like it or not. I have him taking control of my system now. He said it's not good to power my speakers with my deck, do to heat, which will make it not last as long. By the way, I do have an amp (thanks, i didn't know) but the first installer bypassed it.

I now have 2 amps on order. One to power two 8" subs and one to run the other six. When it is fully complete, I will send some pics... Good luck everyone on upgrading your systems. Cheers!

Looks like it wasn't just me who was giving him enough rope to hang himself with his talk of no amp and his awsome speaker spacers that don't allow the door panels to fit, etc. My favorite was his hate of paper woofer cones, which produce some of the warmest sound out of any material (man made or synthetic).

Sounds like wasatch doesn't really know much about anything and goes by what "they" are telling him. Then he came on here and acted like an expert only to be shot down ...... hard! Good work "T" owners.

"Then he came on here and acted like an expert only to be shot down ...... hard! Good work "T" owners." Ha ha... What are you in seventh grade? I though we were here for the same reason. I guess not...

The only input I have had on this thread is a pic to show me that an amp powered the system and not the head unit, big deal. It matters not, the Monsoon system isn't all that. If you have a factory system don't try to get anything monsoon unless you want a six disc changer. Other than that get a new amp/speakers and power everything.

Also stop it with the AC Delco paper speakers are the bomb crap! I had those in my 68' Bronco. You just blew up the whole stereo industry with that insight. lol My original post started with simple upgrades. Spacers and speakers to make the system better.

Now that I know about the amp I am relieved and have found several to make this system pump. Don't do that with you factory speakers they will blow. I have had one replaced under warranty already with the stock system.

Go ahead and brag about Monsoon. It is a 200watt max power amp (that gets hot with long use) powering crap speakers. Remember "if it's too loud you are too OLD!"

Sorry doc olds and jvorpahl. I gained info from your posts and I appreciated the insight. Crutchfield is a great site to learn about stereos and purchase as well...
