Broken Blend Door? No Heat - A/C & 3 Actuators OK- Cave of Despair HELP!
Hi,
Noob here ran into a H3 project and trying to revive her. HVAC was completely dead when purchased. After some fuse replacements and system recharge A/C is now up and running blowing cold. Panel controls working except temperature control has no effect on air temp. Both heater hoses at firewall are hot so I believe core is hot. All three actuators seem to work fine though I'm not positive of their correct positions for given temperature switch position. Deflection to various vents control and actuator works great. Removed the aft most actuator (the "Heat" one?) and it rotates nicely and on command.
So I think the problem is obvious and ugly. There seems to be no female receptacle for the actuator shaft. Please see photo of suspiciously dark and empty hole where actuator shaft should engage? I can stick most of my pinky tip into the hole and feel nothing. A larger blade flat screwdriver finds no purchase while jigging the hole at various angles.
Anybody ever get this deep into the dash and how the blend door is mounted in the HVAC assembly? Seems the blend door is loose somewhere in that inaccessible cave :-(
I've kludged a blend door before but this one I'm struggling with how to route the new actuator string/wire/tape/dowel/paperclip/.
Hints are most appreciated.
