Bought 2006 Hummer H3
Hello All. I'm in Miami, FL and I just bought a very nice 2006 H3 w/ 160K. Clean on the inside and outside. I am looking for guidance on how to do preventive maintenance on the engine. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to tackle first? Right now it has a slight engine hesitation (due to the exhaust sensor), and I smell gasoline vapor. The other concern is the rims. The seller told me that the H3 came from up North. The rims are corroded and the crome is lifting from the metal rim. I think it's from the road salt. Looking forward to reading about your H# exprisense and DIY maintenance work on your vehicles. Thank you all for letting me be part of your forum. LF

Welcome to HF. Please search first and then ask all your tech questions in the H3 section.
Basics. If you do not know when the fluids were last changed, then change them all out: engine oil, front and rear diffs, Transfer Case, Transmission, coolant and brake fluid.
Here is another thread to review for you. Acts like it wants to stall/rough idle -No CEL -What To Do:

2006 Hummer H3
We here in Miami with a beautiful black 2006 Hummer H3. Found out no one can remove the oxygen censor that's on the manifold. Beside the stripped bolt the sensor has sized to the manifold. The mechanic told me to take it to a muffler shot amd replace th manifold. I really don't want o go that route. I'm.not convince the senor fused with th metal manifold.
Heavy gas fumes are coming out of the gas tank area. The mechanic said to replace the fuel pump and all the hoses on top of the gas tank.
So I've been shopping for th manifold and gas pump. Them I have o find a reputable mechanic to the work.
I let you know what happens next.
You all have a great H3 day.

The Saga Continues
The true mechanics in Miami are in th urban areas. I travel to Allapatha, an urban area in Miami. Stop at an exhaust shop. Greeted by the owner. I showed him th o2 censor which is striped and all that remains is the bolt. The shop owner said "No can do".
Told me to go see a mechanic. Because the work requires tinkering.
I then went to a general mechanics shop. Spoke with the attendant. He said, "We Can Do"! I asked how much to remove th 02 censor. He said $80.
I agreed. The other guy, wanted to do a transformation on my exhaust manifold system, change the cats and censor for $1,385.
So tomorrow I'm leaving my H3 with a total stranger. He'll will have the key to my H3. I have to get to work.
Lastly, this whole experience is causing some hectic moments. I'm counting that in the end, it would have been worth it.
