i have an 08 and when i turn sharp on pavement it does feel like it is pushing or maybe the brakes are on. i always believed this was normal due to how sharp these h3s turn...they almost rotate! that means the fronts wheels have to be turned so much that the truck is pushing them a little. seems to be a little more noticeable since the torsion lift too. i thought it made sense but after reading all this i am starting to second guess myself

Exactly... no lock, the full turn should be as smooth as butter..if you experience resistance, you're locking

My 2007 H3 with 58K miles just started the binding when backing up today. I see on the forum that the all 2006 and some 2007's have the plastic shift fork and I was wondering if someone could tell me when they stopped putting the plastic forks in the 2007's? I didn't know if there was a specific month or if it would be possible to tell from the vin# or maybe even if there was a # on the transfer case or something that I could get GM to check to see if it contained the plastic or the newer alloy fork. Just thought I would see if anyone here has the answer before I call the dealership.

Default you've come to the right thread

first, do you have a "grassy knoll" in your area?, if so drtom has a plan...

my advice is to crawl under the H3, find the T/C, does it have a sticker that mentions adding additional fluid thru the speed sensor hole? is your VIN# prior to 56TDN13E778100102? have you ever driven in 4Lock Hi or Lo on dry pavement for extended periods of time? are you the original owner of this H3? if so, when you call the dealership and they seem clueless about the problem, ask the service manager to talk with the certified Hummer tech, they probably won't let you? there are a couple different ways of tackling this problem, if your the original owner of the vehicle you might get help from GMC, if not you may save $ by avoiding the stealership. if your mechanically minded we can send you the replacement steps needed. that is if you indeed have the dreaded plastic fork.

I did not see a stick anywhere that said to add additional fluid. There is a sticker on the T-Case that says it was manufactured in 10/06. My wife reported the problem to me and when I went out to take a closer look at it I noticed that the 4WD-H button was lighted up. I don't know if it was hit by accident yesterday or not but once I put hit the ALL-4WD button everything seems to be fine now. It would have only been driven yesterday like that for about 60 miles or so and it was really raining hard the entire day. Hopefully that was it and it caused no damage. I would just like to know if my T-Case does have the plastic shift fork in it or not. The door jamb says the vehicle was manfactured in 10/06 but is considered a 2007.
