Default Basic single din radio upgrade question

I got the GM harness but didn't realize there is a module version to retain the chime. I am not worried about that but I am curious on the power wires....

Are you all running a 12v red wire from the battery to power an aftermarket unit or should the adapter be plug and play? I can't seem to get power to my radio

check for a blown radio fuse at the fuse box for whatever vehicle you are driving since you did not say what you have.

Maybe I asked the wrong way.. my power works correctly on the OEM.
When connecting an aftermarket unit, are you running separate orange and red POWER and ACC lines to the radio or should they come through the basic GM connector harness adapter?.. because the harness does have the orange and red wires but they don't seem to provide the POWER and ACC to the aftermarket unit.

Ok so, the radio adapter SHOULD provide the POWER and ACC to an aftermarket unit without having to add wires to the battery and/or fuse box from the new radio?

I read somewhere that the OEM unit gets power differently and is controlled from the BCM so I am just checking before digging in more or making a return on the harness.

Things you will need -
---METRA GMOS-04 WIRING HARNESS if you have monsoon stereo-
(you can tell by looking at your subwoofer in the back. it will have the monsoon logo if you have it)
---METRA GMOS-01 WIRING HARNESS, f you do not have monsoon stereo

I appreciate the response but that still doesn't answer my question.
My unit is the basic unit with 6 disc changer and I do have the monsoon logo.
I suppose I have a generic GM adapter harness that came with the single din kit. I am ok without the OEM bluetooth, chimes and onstar for now because the new unit will have bluetooth.
Even if I get the exact specific adapter, are you all having to run a red and yellow wire separately to the radio? I have no problem doing it but am curious if this is common with my basic adapter. Will the sub still work with just this basic setup?

I got the METRA GMOS-04 WIRING HARNESS-plug & play- This is the correct harness for the H3.
I did not have to worry about the
red and yellow wire.
I use the harness on a stereo with a Backup camera that I purchased 4 years ago on Amazon for $89-It works great
