Default AC/heat fan problems :(

Hey all,

The fan quit working on our 06 H3 and it it hot!

It has sporadically ran and not worked of an on for a few months and now nothing, I pulled the resistor out and it looks ok. The connectors were clean and the harness looks newer. swapped around fuses and relays and no change.

Are there any electrical tests that I can check on it?

May we assume you already had the HVAC recall performed?

I assume so. The section of wire from the resistor to the blower motor to the black and white plugs looked pretty new.

Did some diagnostic testing as shown above and had these measurements at the plug

Setting Volts
0 0
1 13+
2 13+
3 13+
4 0

Do we need both a resistor and a new blower motor?

STOP RT THERE!!! Do not fall into the parts cannon “rabbit hole” as I did just a few short months ago.. Take a few mins and pull your glovebox out, after that your gunna C 2 white connectors,(pic 3) follow the one to your blower/resistor….. pull it apart and you’ll most likely find two burnt connectors, (pic 2) Either re-pin the harness connectors or purchase some quality crimp n shrink or solder n shrink butt connectors and by-pass the connector

Did you pull the connector apart and check for +v? I believe the orange wire should be batt v w/ key on….

At the plug we are getting about 10.5v on settings 1-3 and 0v on 4
