Looks like its some type of dealer installed alarm system designed to protect cars on the lot and makes the sales guy's job easier by having a master fob to lock doors of different cars. Found a good discussion of it here: https://www.odyclub.com/threads/thre...-to-on.363346/

SOLVED

Went out this morning to uninstall the little box under the dash. I felt around under there and there were 4 or 5 cut wires tucked into the carpet without tape on the end, presumably attached to that controller at one point.

I slept in the front seat twice at rest stops this week while driving cross country (19.2mpg at 73mph) and must have made one of the wires touch the metal beneath the carpet while kicking around.

I pulled the wires out and no beep on start.

Thanks for the ideas and information. I'll likely be installing my UCAs and front diff seals This week before my 2100 mile drive back.

Btw, Walmart InHome delivery trucks do the same when closing the rear door. I get deliveries many times a week! I allow them to back the truck into my driveway to unload from the rear door then after closing the rear door, there's always 3-loud horn beeps. Probably pisses off the nutcase neighbor across the street, not me.

That makes me wonder if there is a hood sensor. I just sprayed a **** ton of silicone on the hood latch last week too.

This module was wired into the OBD plug. The sensor next to the OBD goes into some wires farther up the firewall. Is this thing lart of the aftermarket unit?
This was tucked under the carpet with some lights blinking

aftermarket GPS locator they use to track and sell your data to data brokers as a side hustle. you might get a call from the dealer the vehicle was sold from.
but you can tell them to go eff themselves since now it belongs to you.
