Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
Hello, I have a owned a 2008 Hummer H3 Alpha with Off Road Package (rear locker) for approximately 5 years and 30k miles. It’s been in family since day 1 and was a crane inspection vehicle driving all over the midwest highways doing inspections sometimes 40k per year and always maintained. Current mileage is sitting at 307k. Tranny replaced around 200k, and I just spent 4K on it within last year doing radiator, AC compressor, brake pads, and a front differential rebuild amongst other stuff. Everything else is up to date with fluids, tune up, oil pan gasket, rear main seal etc. Good tires etc. Have maintenance records since day one and cosmetically looks like less than half the mileage at least. Only issue is 3 Tpm sensors, are bad so Tpm light is on. What do you all think I should list it for on here private party? The book values are still kind of high for this truck, especially an Alpha.
I was surprised. I attached some photos. Thank you!
Nice looking rig! In addition to looking at NADA, go to CARFAX and see what dealers in your zip code are asking. If you haven’t already done this, I’ll bet you will be amazed at the high prices. Best of luck!
Pictures are from May so not long ago. Yes, tires are about 5 years old with 30k on them now. I agree spending 4K on it in the last year or so wasn’t the smartest, but I had to keep It going. I now have another vehicle, so time to sell.
So I’ve added up to the maintenance records on it for the last five years and have spent over $7000 on it over 4K in last year or so. I currently have an offer for 6000, so below a private party sale on blue book for a fair condition vehicle which this is definitely in the good category. However, it is a harder sell because of the mileage. Thoughts?
I would hold out for a bit more, after all it is an off road. I think buyers will likely be true enthusiasts who will price in a motor rebuild which I would not be afraid of if I were a buyer. You can bring out some serious performance gains adding some basics to the rebuild without significant price increase to labor.
Others might just want to drive it for short term, put stupid Rimz on it and dump it when done since they would not know what it actually is. 2008 Alpha off roads are a great package improvement over the common 08 Alphas.
