1.5 days research.
30 mins to diagnose the real issue(water pump).
2 days to find the right tool.
90 mins to swap out the water pump.

The Black Pearl is now back on the road and running cool as a cucumber

did you use locktite on the big fan nut??
it worried me and i used the red stuff. wonder if thats a problem going back in someday?

No, I did think about it, but every thread I read (this forum and others) said nothing about loctite on anything. To be triple sure I do have family in the car biz(just not living in Fl) and I checked with him and he related that it would be overkill.

Thread lockers not called out in the factory service procedure. The big fan clutch nut turns to tighten against the rotation of the fan so it should stay tight after torquing to 41 ft /lb.

how to get it loose?
