SUT 1-Month Update
So I’ve had my 07 H2 SUT now for one month and thought I’d post an update. The truck was a 1-owner H2 that was apparently garaged and VERY well taken care of. It has a bit over 120,000 miles and is in awesome condition.
I changed the transfer case, front diff and rear diff fluids. Changed the transmission filter and the 5-6 qts that requires. Also changed the engine oil and filter. Everything looked great - no burnt fluids or metal shavings. Now I have a starting point for my maintenance.
While I had it on the lift I checked for rust. Found a little near the back on the frame but inconsequential. Cleaned it up and put some POR15 on it.
Removed the running boards. I think it looks better and being 6’4” I have no problem getting in/out.
Although I saw no signs of leakage from the roof lights I replaced all of them and sealed everything up. Also replaced the headlights and polished the DRLs.
I’m impressed with the way it drives- very comfortable and rock solid. I had read negative reviews regarding its handling due to its size and weight but after decades of driving 1-ton Dually pickups the H2 feels like a sports car.
Being inexperienced at off-road driving I am taking that in baby steps. So far it has really amazed me at what it will do without even spinning a tire. I’m sure it will do MUCH more but not sure if I could. Yet. Bahahaha
Drive it regularly and have yet to see another H2 of any type on the road. Saw 2 H3s. I guess as far as production vehicles go the H2s are a bit rare, especially since they have not been made in many years.
