Hello. I just picked up a 05 H2 SUT and immediately noticed the speedometer was off. I am running 35" tires and the truck came with a tuner which I verified was set at proper tire size. The speedometer reads faster than I am traveling. Most noticeable over 40mph and at 75mph it reads almost 90mph. All other gauges function as they should. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

 

Since you are running stock size tires I would say the stepper motor was probably replaced at some point and was never properly indexed back where it should be. 15mph off is a big difference. You could get into the cluster and try putting the needle where it should be.

 

Thank you for taking the time to reply! I really do appreciate it. It does seem to get farther off from actual the higher the speed goes. When I am doing 30 or so it's only maybe 5 off. Do you still recommend the stepper motor? Just want to check before I dig into it. Thank you again!

 

One of the first things I had to do on mine was refurbish the cluster, all the bulbs were blown, bad stepper motors, etc. There are YouTube videos on how to take it apart yourself or you can do like I did and mail it off to a repair company to have it rebuilt (I used eBay)
