Default Another dash cluster question...

Hello - just purchased an 05 SUT with the infamous dash cluster not working and I need to smog. What have people determined is the best route to fix this issue? I can't send mine in be a use it's already been 'altered' so to speak and can't be repaired so essentially I have no core. Do I try and find a used dash or is there somewhere I can get a rebuilt one without a core and what about reprogramming? What companies have people had luck with? Any input appreciated.

On my 2003 the cluster board was swapped out with one from a 2003 chevy taho and the EEPROM was swapped from my original cluster to keep my vin and miles.so maybe you can find something from a 2005 just make sure it has a trans temp gauge if not you will have to buy a stepper motor for it. they sell rebuild kits with all new stepper motors necessary.
Your cluster housing is the most important part as it specific to only fit the hummer.
as long as it is usable the board is a generic gm chevy truck gauge from those years.

I have a cluster from an 06 that was cleaned, and serviced back in 2020. It shows 45225 and 1720 hours on it and is in excellent condition and 100% factory, no mods. I might be coaxed into letting go. PM if your interested.
Here's some pictures from when it was serviced:

Overtorque, I can't send you a PM either, check with DOC the moderator and see what the problem is.

Well I dont think I'll be needing the dash cluster. Got this thing started up today and after a bunch of racket a 12" rat appeared to have been belched out of the ducting and headed straight to the fan which sent it pinwheeling off into the yard. Must be nest material in and around the heater resistor because something started smoking out the vents- sounded like the heater fan is chopping up something. Probably another rat. Tried to rev it up and had totally dead pedal. I assume they chewed something. What did I get myself into with this thing?

Pack rats can cause real havoc to the electrical and vehicle components. Since the H2 is drive by wire I would be willing to bet your gonna find some chewed up wiring close to the gas pedal which is right next to the air ducting.

Look at it this way, at least you won't have to drop coin on a new cluster. Just plan on pulling the dash apart and consider picking up a GM Tech2 tool to help isolate the problems, if you can find one. Good luck and happy hunting!

Bought my H2 with some damage caused by rats also, they nested in the fresh air intake box, chewed up wires by the ECU in the engine bay behind the battery. and had access to the inside of the vehicle via the shifter cable boot. in the inside the only wire i found eaten was the DRL sensor wire hardest one to fix. Hope the repairs for you are going well!
