Default 2005 SUT with 242000 miles restoration

Call me crazy but I am starting the planning process with my favorite body shop to start a restoration for my h2 sut. Mechanically sound and running well, New England truck so body and frame needing help, also changing exterior color.
Looking for any suggestions / suppliers (other than not to do it), Thanks.

You're crazy? Seriously why not invest a fraction of what it would cost to buy a new truck. If you owned since new(@$53k), you are ahead. Today's cost for new comparable trucks, payments alone, is around $15,000.00 per year(@6yrs). Yet, none of them are a Hummer, like nothing else. Even, if you spent another $53k and drive it for another 15yrs, you will be further ahead.

My buddies get it, yet jealous, knowing the fact that I haven't had to make a purchase payment for many years. Not only do I save money not making payments, my max full coverage insurance is cheap too($339yr including roadside assistance).

Thats right insurance and excise tax remains low! Any tips or good suppliers out there for the rebuild? I won't be putting it up on the rack till spring of 2021, so I've got time to collect parts.

Keep it forever. It is and always will be collectible, and there really is nothing else like them. Of course, soon there will be an all electric GMC truck called the Hummer....probably will be a wave of renewed enthusiasm for the older Hummers.

Keep us posted on the resto! My 07 needs front suspension rebuilt (regular wear and tear). I'm looking forward to ripping her apart and scraping, cleaning, painting. I love this truck and hope to never part with it.

Who is your insurance company? I am 63, a retired police officer, no tickets or accidents since 79 and pay twice that much with State Farm! Thanks much!!
