Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
I have been searching for the compressor unit for 4 months without success, so if you go ahead and convert your Hummer please sell me your old one.
You can ship it to my daughter in Houston and I can pick it up there.
I will same or more than you can get on ebay.
And if you get the information how to disable the alarm when converting to springs I would appreciate if you can share that information with me.
Hey Jorgen,
Don't think you'll find any compressors. I have been looking for a long time also. Even though my compressor is working, I cannot guaranty it is 100%. It does lift the H2 up to the high position over normal ride height and then when commanded return it to normal ride height. But I have no idea if the air leak.(Which takes a while to drop the H2) is the air line or the bags. I'm assuming it is the air lines or the bags. But there could be something in the compressor I have no clue.
You would be taking a Gamble. But when I do convert to springs I'll contact you first. I should know something in a week or so from my mechanic. I plan to make a YouTube video of it lifting and dropping down again to go with the listing on ebay. I can post that here so you can see it working before I list it if you want it. I plan on listing it for $2500.00 and (Sold For Parts Not Working) Back in the day before they discontinued it it sold New for $2700.00 or so. I have to list it as not working as it's a Contractual eBay thing. If I list it as working and something goes wrong then I have to refund the money to the buyer. That's why it will be listed as Not Working Sold For Parts and As is no returns no refunds.
So after all that ....it will be up to you if you want it. Of course I'll post how to disable the warning indicator. If you search my posts you will see some of the guys posted different ways to try to disable the warning and code. There is what they call an "EBM Module" that plugs into the left over connector that tells the unit it's still intact and working which prevents the light from coming on.
It is sold with some spring kits but only from 2003-2007. Not sure it will work with 2008 or 2009,
So let me know if you want to take a shot at this 16 year old compressor on my H2. My H2 has only about 80 K miles. The compressor was replaced in 2010 under warranty at the dealer and one airbag back in the day. You can email me I think thru this forum. or post here.
Actually, my compressor is still working good, it's only the module that is the problem.
My Hummer is with American spec and have about 80 000 miles on it.
I have a brand new compressor unit, but it's for 2003 to 2007 so it will not fit, and the module is different.
So if your compressor unit have the same module then no problem if compressor is not working properly.

OK I get it now..it's the module on the compressor? Is that what you are talking about? Or another control module somewhere else. If it's the one on the compressor ...then how is the unit working? Is it just throwing codes on your dash and that's it?
If I remove the compressor then I will sell it complete. It's no good to anyone without being complete working unit with the module. So I couldn't sell it as a working compressor.
Or am I missing something here? If it is the module on the compressor yourtalking about? Then if it's not potted and sealed then maybe it can be opened and repaired. If there is a Microcontroller that is bad inside then that can't be fixed. But if it's a resistor or capacitor or transistor that has gone bad then that could be replaced. You would have to take that in to someone who does electronic repair. I have repaired items inside in some electronics used in the Automobile world. Not all but some depending on the component.
Just a suggestion.
From what I understand is that 2008 and 2009 air ride are the same. If they are then you should have the same Dashboard as the 2009 with the lift button at the bottom with the flashing L.E.D. the blinks when you raise and lower it.
Alos, found this site: Shows a rebuilt unit... It says available..on chat hold waiting for someone.??? It's $1500.00.....Check it out. The module number is 20803367 I got that off a Picture on line.
Also Google says this:
Overview of H2 Air Suspension Compressors
Shared Parts: The compressor unit, dryer, control module, and solenoid valve block remain mechanically and electronically interchangeable between the 2008 and 2009 model years.
OEM Part Number: Both model years use the same original equipment replacement part numbers (such as GM OEM Part #19436043 or GM Part #20803372).
Hello Mark,
I saw a module on ebay with same part number as I have for 2400 USD.
After considering the price and reliability I decided to go with the same option as you, convert to strut masters.
The Chinese is cheaper, but I don't trust the quality.
My mechanics friend is working fog the Dubai dealership and is investigating the possibility to disable the module and fault communication.
You also mentioned that something more was needed to complete the conversation than the strut master kit.
Can you share the information with me?
I'm in Pakistan on a job now but will be in US at the end of August for the AC/DC concert, so I will have all shipped to my daughter so I can bring back to Dubai.
If I can get the information regarding disabling the alarm code I will gladly share it with you.

Hi Jorgen,
Yes in the shop manual it is shown that there are Spring Isolators. Rubber rings that go into the spring and sit on the bare metal areas where the spring contacts.
They can be found on ebay or Amazon ... You'll have to search to make sure they say it fits HUMMER H2..(Don't know your model year)
As I stated before, There is what's called and "EBM" module..( Electronic Bypass Module) that tells the system it is ok. That module I saw came with spring kits for 2003 -2007 H2's. I have not seem one for an 2008 or 2009 H2. I have no ideal if they are compatible . As of now the A/R system is working as long as I drive the H2 at least every 2 days. So, I have decided since I can't find an "EBM" module, to wait till the A/R system fails altogether. The compressor is working ok. But it still could be the cause of the leake.
There ahs been a lot written on how to disable the warning light on the DIC display on this forum. I'll deal with it as soon as I have too change out the system and I will post what worked. There have been several suggestins.
I'll post here what info I find when the time comes to change out the compressor.
MarkR, once you done can you give me some measurement specs on the round pucks that are used to center the air bags. They are no long available and I am going to make them out of Delrin. Thanks

The ones on line that say will fork for the HUMMER H2 are the ones I bought. They fit the Strutmaster Coil Springs ok. They are cheap and should work well. So the spec's that I would give you would be from the ones I bought from ebay.
I bought the Moog K160072 from ebay... this below is from Google "AI" : You can email MOOG or Call them to double check but they fit the Strumaster's I bought. I took one out of the box and it wiggled in ok. Should work for you H2-SUT.
Regards: Mark
AI OverviewYes, the Moog K160072 coil spring insulator is designed to fit the rear suspension of the Hummer H2 (2003–2009 model years). It acts as a direct-fit cushion between the coil spring and the mounting points to protect the metal and reduce road noise and vibration. They should work fine. I test fitted them in the strutmaster coil spring and the wiggled in fine.
Hey Mark, These are the pucks I am talking about and not the coil spring insulators. I already have coil spring so I have all that stuff. I am going to put in a Firestone compressor and the original air bags.
Here's a picture of what I am speaking o, MixManSC sent me a picture with some basic measurement, unfortunately not order able. If you wish to part with yours after the conversion let me know I will be more that happy to pay you for them and it will save me the effort of having to make them.
Knowing how to are with electronics and how you like to dig into problems I am surprised your switching over to coils, best of luck on the project!

Ok H2-SUT ..Miscommunication ..L.O.L. No problem.... When I put the Springs in...I'd be happy to just give the pucks to you. No problem. However as I mentioned in my other posts, I'm going to let the problem play out. So I have no clue when the system will completely fail and drop on it's butt. As far as tackling the electronics goes, I was speaking of the Warning on the DIC about the A/R unit figuring out how to override it. As it has been also mentioned here that those Air in/ Air out vales on the compressor are plastic. And again there are no parts available to repair it or a complete compressor.
So for me to replace the bags or air lines, in fact that is the cause does not make sense as I'd still be dealing with a 16 old compressor. So spending money on bags and lines and labor and then having the compressor go is a waste.
It's smarter to go with springs...sell the compressor and get some money back for the springs and labor for install.
I think Mix Man's measurements might be the way to go for now. or search listings of junkyards to see if you could get a set. They are on line and I have used them. I remember a central site that puts out on a call to the yards. If they have it some one would reply with a email thru the main requester.
