What is the differance between fabtech lift and rancho lift?

Thankyou...that pic helps alot...so when I wear out my 37 inch tires I need to get 40's for sure!

It's all in the Backspace of the wheels.
Offset varies with the width of the wheel. Backspace is constant regardless of the width of the wheel.

Sorry to tell you that your are wrong. the offset is where the center line of the wheel is. and it varies depending on how the wheel is made. as does the "backspacing" which depends on the offset of the wheel. "backspacing is the distance from the inner surface of the wheel center to the inner wheel lip. how is that a constant if the offset changes? If the OFFSET changes, the BACKSPACING changes. I think I know what you meant though. if you widen a wheel that has a 0 offset for example and add 1/2' to each lip then the offset is the same but the backspacing changed.
been in the tire/wheel business for 25 years.

this explains how offset effects backspacing. You can have wheels built with a custom backspacing as long as they can weld the centers into the hoop without interfering with the drop center. Have it done for custom rods all the time from American racing. Most wheel manufacturers list the offset of the wheel along with the specs. the offset measurement is where you start to learn what the backspacing is.

What I was saying is that if you NEED say 5-1/2" Backspace to clear calipers, control arms or anything else, then you need to get a wheel that has 5-1/2" Backspace.
That is the constant that I was referring to.
A wheel with 5-1/2" Backspace on a 7" wide wheel is XXX offset, 8" wide wheel is YYY offset, 10" wide wheel is ZZZ offset.
So yes, choosing a wheel based on offset is going to result in a different Backspacing based on the wheel WIDTH. But I would buy a wheel based on a published Backspace and not really care what the resulting Offset is.
