So about 6 months after I bought my 2009 Lux H2 it started leaking at the driver side A Pillar and I would end up with a damp headliner in that small general area.
It was under warranty and went back many times to know avail. They even replaced the Windshield at one point. In a light rain it would be ok. But when it poured, the next morning damp again.

I have done all the fixes myself that have been talked about here. There is nothing I haven't tried that works. You name it I tried it. You all know what they are. I think I have kept the Mfg's of "RTV" in business. So in the early spring I will be taking it in to a shop that has a former HUMMER mechanic who worked at my dealer to tear into the A Pillar and drop a small portion of the headliner and get up inside where the pinch welds are at that connect the roof to the sides.

It was once mention back then that it could be an open pinch weld in that area. At this point I'm ready to drop some bucks into fixing it. There have so many threads about leaks hear it's like beating a dead horse. So I will apologize for my Rant.. But I have had it with this problem. It makes me feel better to put this in print. I have done all I can do with this dam leak.....END RANT.

 

I have noticed that my seam sealer in the “gutters” is really cracked. Perhaps yours is the same and letting water in? Honestly I’ve given up on the water leaks. I have countless hours into it.

 

Yeah..I hear yah Gavin. Spent to many hours over the years trying to stop that leak. At one point it went away fro a few down pours. Then like a Bad penny or Bad date it came back. I have use all kinds of sealers everywhere. At one point I blocked off the inlet from the gutters to the exit path down the molding. But then I thought about rusting out the gutter as the water never drained. So I took the block out. I even put screen door mesh in that opening to keep the tree gack out.

So now into the shop. Ready to drop some Big $$$. My headliner has a brown stain in that area. It cleans up with the "Right Stuff" Cleaner but I and tired of dealing with it. The only bad part is that The side airbag also gets wet tucked up in the headliner. Fark It....Into the shop she goes.

 

My 2003 would leak in a rainstorm, traded it in on my 2006, luckily I store it inside and never drive in the rain, so it would probably leak, but I am not giving it the opportunity as it rarely gets driven anymore. Someday I might put it on BaT.

 

i still on occassion have to wiggle the center lights to stop dripping from the ceiling console. i guess highway driving lifts them just enough to trap debris under the seals even though i have thicker seals then factory.?

 

Do you have a small antenna on roof on the driver's side? Mine does, dont know if its factory or not,....anyway I've pulled my headliner down partially on each side and found water dripping right where antenna mounts to roof due to the nut on inside of truck being loose, i have an antenna on both driver and passenger side on my 2003

 

The 2009 has it on the Driver side. But it never has gotten wet below that area or the center top console area. Only the "A" pillar Driver side. It did at one time happen on the passenger side "A" pillar but stopped years ago after I gooped up the common spots.

 

I am going to toss this out there, just because I have had windshield leaks (2 replaced from bad installs) in the front left corner.... Have you taken a garden hose and selectively chosen an area to saturate to see if you can eliminate? I'm sure you tried this already...
I know this is going to bite me in the @ss for saying - I actually still take mine through the carwash so its possible to get them leak free.... Just takes alot of OCD.

 

I always use a Touchless car wash. It never leaks then. Only after a good long rain. And yes your are very welcome to ask if I have used the hose on the area. I had the driver side A pillar grab handle off...and pulled the headliner down slightly to see up where the metal is. Soaked it and still cannot see where the water is coming in.

I know it's not the windshield as I even added extra sealer on the outside. The water runs down the load bar channel under the marker lights and exits thru the plastic windshield trim I usually pull that off to clean that area as Tree gack builds up in there and slows drainage.

So like I said.... I'm taking it into a shop that is run by a guy who worked at the HUMMER dealer and retired and opened his own place.He knows these suckers. It will cost me some $$$. But I don't G.A.S.. I'll wait till spring hits here in New Joisey. It's got to be something with the pinch welds around that area. Factory defect along with all the other crap like marker lamp seals roof drain hose and the list goes on and on.

I think everyone her except the H3 guys has had a leak in the front headliner area

I want to say I remember a while back someone mentioning the seams - I think they ended up taking the entire rail area off on the left side and was something towards the front that needed sealing. Want to say it was one of the regulars that made a post about it. I’m old and forgetful now, but your situation reminded me of that post. Hopefully your guy finds it and certainly let us all know!! My biggest concern for the interior, since we all are approaching 20 years -is the headliner.
