Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Default Upper control arms

Looking into replacing upper control arms. The bushings are going bad and the boots on the ball joints are shot. Surprisingly none of the ball joints show any wear Any recommendations?

I can’t justify the kryptonite ones but I need something high quality that’ll stand up to off road abuse. I see there are moog ones for $77. Not sure if they’re good or not since they’re so cheap. Anyone tried them?

Also is it worth replacing the lowers while I’m in there or no?

If you don’t mind I will follow this thread for future replacements.
What year is your H2?

When I bought my 08 H2 I started collecting parts because more of the good parts manufactures were having more stuff made in China and the prices were also starting to edge up.

At the time I purchase CK620054 Moog upper control arms (for all H2 years) and Moog ball joints for the lowers. I looked a Kryptonite and as nice as they are I just not could not justify the cost. If I was going to do some heavy duty off-roading I probably would have sprung for them. These control arms are the Heavy Duty Moog's.

With the exception of the CV half shafts I have 100% of everything required to rebuild the front end down the road when it becomes necessary. Mostly Moog or Genuine GM parts.

Don’t know if there’s a sticky thread on this forum with the most probable parts that can and will break down on a hummer and at least stock up on replacement parts.
If there isn’t maybe a good thing to start for all hummer models as each year might be different.
I’m thinking strongly of buying a second 2008 hummer and use it for parts.
I’m still slowly building up my H2 as I just ordered a roof visor with DRL’s and some mole racks for the rear windows.
But buying the most needed spare parts for a 2008 H2 to keep it on the road is on my next thing to do.

I'm not too worried about front suspension parts availability. They're identical to the 2500s of the era. I think I'll go with the Moogs. $77 is just a deal I can't skip. they seem to be higher priced at other places. They're wheel bearings seemed to be ok so what the hell. And they're greasable.

Good to know who's hogging all the h2 parts though for when stuff isn't available anymore we know who's house to rob.

2008. Though all years share the same suspension parts.
