Default Transmission upgrade

I've read some posts on upgrading/building the 4L60-65E transmissions into a high performance transmission, problem is, its still a 4 speed auto. With the new Procharger almost installed, won't be long until its transmission time. Curious if the newer 10speed auto or equivalent could be transplanted into our H2's. My daughters 2024 Gm Yukon Denali has the 6.2L with the 10 speed auto and this thing fliies. My h2 has the same horsepower but those lower gears in that transmission launches that thing like a missile (compared to my 07 dog),asked my builder if he would do a 6sp swap and he said NO, not going to happen. Another trans shop near me did the 6 speed auto conversion in an H3 Alpha, he said never again. I guess money can't buy happiness. Any solutions for getting more gears?

I'm sure there is a way but until then, the 6L80E will go in with not much trouble. There are kits out there to make it happen and then all you need is a crossmemebr from a later model 6.2 powered h2.

Knowing I'll be needing a new transmission sooner than later, I'm gonna try harder to find a transmission shop that will do the 6l80 swap, makes perfect sense, 6 speed auto at this point sounds great. Might have to contact Richard at Performance Transmission in Texas and make a road trip, or talk to Predator.

So the 8l and 10l transmissions are only compatible with the lt platform and ecus. The only way to swap these is by going with a standalone ecu that does not exist yet for the 10l(but does for the 8l)

A 6l80 swap is not going to happen either. Your h2 is a gen iii and the 6l80 requires a gen iv ecu and is not compatible with your bcm, abs, cluster, or transfer case modules. All of that would need to be swapped out. You could go with a standalone controller instead, but that comes with a whole plethora of other problems and wont work like oem. You will also need a transfer case because there's no 27 spline option for the 6l80.

A 4l80 swap can be done but you would need to swap the tcm, and find a 27 spline output shaft for it.

The easiest thing to do, and I think you will be surprised with the results, is have your 4l65 professionally built and tuned to handle the weight and do 4.88 gears. I promise its all you need.

After much research and talking with various transmission shops, that's where I'm heading.....
Thank you

My 2009 H2 Loves that 6L80. The first gear is sweet. I really like the way it slides into gear without feeling the shift depending on your right foot.

But like Gavin says....

That change right there should make things good. Getting the 4I65 done by someone who knows there stuff is the thing.
