Default Too many short trips

Anyone else have this problem and building up condensation in the bottom of the oil pan?

I work literally 1 mi away. About half the time I take the H2, warming it up for 10 minutes. But it only gets about halfway warm even with that, by the time I get there. Obviously worse in these winter months. Couple months ago while draining the oil, the dreaded white liquid came out first. I was planning on going through the engine anyway, so I did so. Complete with new heads.

Just change the oil and maybe a quarter cup of water oil mix came out first. No foam on the filler cap. Oil pressure perfect. Vacuum and pressure tested cooling system. Guess I'm going to have to take the long way to work every other day until the weather warms up.

My 1986 CJ7 with a small block Chevy in it does it also but not as bad. And yet my 1990 Ford f250 with a 7.3 diesel never does it. Go figure....

Ah, problem solved. On the LQ4, the PCV system draws fresh air in from just behind the throttle body on the passenger side. When I rebuilt the engine, I just reused the throttle body.....never realized that I must have had enough excess blowby, that it was sending oil vapor backwards through the fresh air hose. Just inside the nipple it connects to...it is completely plugged with carbon! So I didn't have any fresh air entering in, to pass through the engine collecting vapors to be sucked in on the drivers side valve cover. (I have the updated L94 valve covers) Ordered a filtered breather that screws in where the oil fill cap goes. Should be here Friday. Meanwhile, I rigged up a nipple in the factory air filter box and connected the hose there for now. I guess replacing that throttle body is now on the list to get to later. Started cold this morning.....25 degree's ....and drove ten miles. And no water droplets on inside of oil fill cap. Yep, fresh air does wonders.

Good to hear you found the problem. A few years back I installed and oil/air separator on my BB502 in the 65 Vette. So it comes out of the valve cover PVC line into the separator and the back into the base of the vacuum fitting on the FI unit. Every 3 weeks of running that sucker will be half full of black oil.

Not sure if your 2's motor uses a system like that above. But if not ...you might look into one. There is one that works off the exhaust but I would Nix that.

Here's a bunch on Amazon... Their cheap.... Summit sells them also but they are Big $$$

I went through the motor a few months ago. The valve guides were pretty well worn out. Disconnected the PCV briefly see how much blow-by I had..... Nothing but warm air. Got rid of the oil catch can I used to have, it's nice not to need it now.
