Nice Fix in post one and good find Bronxteck on that repair pin. You can always drill a hole at the "C" clip end and do a Cotter pin with washer. Good find.
on the H1 the metal linkage end connects to transmission and there is cotter pin holding it in place not have any chance of coming out.
Yep on Military equipment ... most all connections end up with a Cotter pin. In Nam.. everything I touched in the field when lead wasn't breaking the sound barrier over my head had a Cotter pin in it. You can't run to Home Depot in the bush.....LMAO.

here is my version, exactly how the H1 is,
I cut a bolt exact diameter of my existing shift cable end,
I drilled small hole for the cotter pin,
I ground the end piece out for the original linkage pin,
Enlarged the hole
Balanced the bolt with hole and correct angle and welded from the back side.
yup definitely better then the C-clip in that bushing kit i posted. the C-clip is great up until it flies across the room never to be seen again. as with a cotter pin it is simpler to replace.
On this setup, did you remove the plastic bushing or just shoved the bushing through it? It appears from the pic you pushed it through the plastic bushing but I don’t want to break anything trying this! lol.

I went to Lowes and set out to make a final fix for this issue, and figured I would share my results with anyone who is interested, or if anyone wants me to make you a fix-a-kit I can, and mail it out.
I had a little trial and error with the below parts, but the final products is dead on, and is a total of 1 - 1/4x20x1-1/2 Grade 8 bolt, 1 - 1/4x20 Nylon Lock Nut, 2 - 1/4 Washers, and 1 - 1/4x3/8x1/2 Steel Spacer. I shortened the bolt by about 5mm and the spacer by 2 mm, and the final product was just right.
The first attempt was a little clunky and prevented the shifter to go into 1st, as it was hitting the trans pan. After I cut the bolt and trimmed the bushing down, I cleaned it up and reversed the assembly.
The cable had to be adjusted slightly, by unclipping the black lock on the grey adjustment lock, and after that it shifts perfectly.
