How long did your radiator last before need to replace?

 

too many variables. I always replace mine right after buying any H2 (my 4th rig). Dexcool can cause some serious issues and if the coolant breaches the radiator to the internal radiator trans cooler- game over for tranny.
Cheap enough to replace and at least have a fresh start, while your at it, probably need to do tensioners, water pump and for an extra $50 the fan clutch. Flush her out good and in my opinion dont go back to dexcool. Go with regular green 50/50 antifreeze.
You can google "dexcool lawsuit" many many pissed off owners that have had major issues with dexcool....
I was lucky on my current H2, cooling system was absolutely clean with no horrific dexcool issues, once i did the above service and made sure the system was completely flushed & dexcool free I filled with green prestone 50/50..
Some take it a step farther & remove the trans lines and install an external trans cooler to eliminate any future chance of mixing / catastrophic transmission damage.

 

Thanks for your input. 2006 with 92,000 miles. I am second owner, bought at 82,000 a year and half ago. Thinking of getting a aluminum radiator for better cooling and to assure myself of no coolant transmission problems. Previous owner had 2 H2s, I snagged this one. Very well cared for and serviced and all highway miles. This is my 3rd Hummer, 3.5 H3, 08 H3 Alpha, and this 2006 H2.
