Might anyone in the forum have worked for GM, or know someone who does that could track us down the list of the suppliers GM used for parts? Some parts perhaps we could go and get the supplier to make us another run.

 

That is a great idea, but I bet that their hands are tied to patents. I wonder if 20 years from now LMC will have a Hummer catalog filled with crappy Taiwan knockoff parts.

 

Patents are 7 years so they should all be exhausted by now.

 

I would imagine all the tooling was auctioned or repurposed along with any molds for plastic parts. Asking a previous manufacturer to blow the dust off these things if they even still had them would require hundreds if not thousands of needs from the H2 community. Unlikely this will every happen.


Just out of curiosity, what parts are you looking for?

 

I'd be interested in working with the suppliers on the parts that are unique to H2s and wear out and need replacing the most; i.e. door check straps, certain trim pieces, weatherstripping, certain collision parts; bumpers, grills, mirrors, etc. I'm assuming that yes many off-shore companies will find ways to knock off OEM parts, but suppliers are becoming more easier to work directly with if we knew who those suppliers are.
