Default Oil pump failure on rebuilt Transmission 2nd time

Hi,in the last 2 months my H2 has had the transmission rebuilt 2 times, and both times the transmission pump has failed and left me calling a wrecker, it is now being rebuilt a 3rd time….

has anyone had a rebuilt trans pump go out, after few days after a rebuild ?

1st time was 2 days, then 2 weeks, its a top of the line transmission shop, according to Yelp/AAA….. really disappointed… I drove to the shop with my hummer H2 and had a code for over speed and they said I need a new transmission, leary of it now, hopefully when i get it back it doesn’t take a crap again, i have a 2 year/24,000 mile unconditional warranty on the transmission, as long as it comes back to their shop….

Condolences. This is a very typical scenario.
Pull into a trany shop with a minor problem. Leave with a rebuilt trany in worse shape than the one you came in with.

I have seen this so many times. Trany shops are notorious crooks.
And yours........wow......yours are evidently great scammers, since you keep going back to them.

How many times you gonna go back before you realize something the hell is wrong with that shop.
You know what name they are calling you by now, right, behind your back?

And do not believe all the fake internet reviews. Oh, please.
Read my posts to the driveline guy who recently posted, and going back to the same morons, expecting different results. You know how that goes.
And I told him in great detail how to avoid that and find a good shop.

And I have to ask, who is paying for all the tows and parts? Are they?
Look, even if they are paying for everything, that does not make it right.
It may boil down to a bad batch of parts, incompetent install, or using cheapo parts. No bueno either way. This should NEVER happen. NEVER 3x.

I'm so J...J...J...J.. Jaded!

So do yourself a favor, wheel it into a GM dealer, and get them to do the work or sub it out.
Either way, trany shop will not screw a GM dealer, and you will drive away with a warranty good at any GM shop. Nice.

My motto: Trying to do things on the cheap usually ends up costing a lot of money.

it they did not flush out the tranny cooler and lines debris might have got sucked into the pump. if they reused the torque converter and it had debris in it well same issue. so at this point you need a torque converter, and a cooler and line flush.

I agree. You should not have to go thru this much pain with your beautifully kept H2.

hi, i had the H2 transmission rebuilt at 78,000 miles by ammco, they had it for 4 weeks for rebuilding, i went down to see how they were doing, I didn’t see the truck, they said they took it to hollywood aamco because of the trucks weighing more than there lift could safety lift, went to other shop ( on a Friday) and they said it was on a test drive, it would be returned to my original shop on Monday, that seemed strange, so on Saturday i ask onstar where my truck was, it was in key west, went to get truck on Monday and raised hell and they said you agreed to have it road tested…..

Then a week later truck started to shutter when taking off, had to return it to them to get it fixed again…..thats why I didn’t go back to them this time……

though it did last 100,000 miles…..

AAMCO are near the bottom of the pile from my experience.
And to compound, you are in beautiful Florida. Unfortunately the same state most scams originate in.
But they are individually run, so one's experience may vary.

A transmission shop takes 1-2 days to rebuild a transmission, not 4 weeks. That includes getting parts if they are not on-hand. That should have been your first red flag.
And if a hoist can lift a pickup truck, they can lift a Hummer. 2nd red flag.
They move your vehicle across town without telling you. Third red flag.
They joy ride your vehicle with one arm hanging out the window, and cranking your stereo. Priceless.

Anyway, good thing you did not take it there again.
Bad thing is you took it to the same one under a different name.
You must avoid taking your vehicle to trany shops with bad reputation or no reputation. Did you do a google rating on these places?
ONLY go to places offroader clubs recommend.

let us know what was wrong with it this time.

One other thing. I change ALL my fluids yearly. Where you live, heat kills transmissions faster> Cheap maintenance to drain your fluid yearly. Do it yourself. If you take it to a trany shop, they will tell you that you need a new trany.

I took a car once to I think what may have been AAMCO or some similar chain 20 years ago, for a discount-coupon trany fluid change. They told me the car needed a new transmission, without there being anything noticeably wrong. I told them to F off. That car went many more years after that, and many years after I sold it and lost track of it. Bottom line, they wanted to make a cool $2K for nothing. They would have not touched it, and charged my $2K for a "rebuild".

hi, i called the old Hummer dealership about getting my transmission fixed, they quoted me a price between $7,500-$8,500, to have it rebuilt/ fixed and reinstalled, with the GM warrenty of 12 months or 12,000 miles
this is the same dealership i bought both of our Hummers at, they gave me the shaft on the left front hub, they had the truck for four days ordering races becuase they were bad,and i had to rent a car....2 years later the right hub was loose and i told the guy at another shop id have to rent a car, he laughed and said ill have it done in an hour, he replaced the entire hub and i was on my way in 2 hours and it cost me $175.00, coral Hummer charged me $780.00 for the same thing and held truck for 4 days....

Ripoff Dealerships suck, in my book.....and they wonder why they do not have any bussiness !!!
