Now that's a little different with the 08/09, if your in that group the 6.2L does run a bit warmer but if your not towing anything heavy and the kind of person that changes your oil on the lower mileage side you should be ok.

The Derale cooler would be a good solution and should provide good results. Plus getting a possible failure point out the radiator is a real plus too! Myself, I would love getting both the Trans and oil cooler lines outside the radiator as well the failure of either one is a costly problem!

thanks I appreciate it. I’ll be testing it on a 4 hour road trip then 7 days in only sand 4hour trip home next week. I put the block off plate on because I don’t have time to get the serape and get everything mounted properly.

I used the derale adapter on mine but it still goes into the radiator. My expensive but better solution then oem cooler lines. I trust when you say it works, but how does it even get any air being under the radiator?

There's actually quite a bit of airflow under there. If you think about it, the OEM design in the radiator tank is sitting in 200° coolant much of the time. It doesn't take much to do a better job cooling the oil out in the open air. I wasn't sure at first, figured I'd mount it there and test it while pulling my 8,000 lb trailer a couple times. In the middle of summer going up over santiam pass, I've seen the oil temperature hit 205°.... But most of the time with my trailer it stays just under 200°. Without my trailer it runs about 170 to 180 running down the freeway.
