Hello fellow Hummer fans! I have a 2004 H2 and I have been looking for a rear spare tire mount because mine didnt come with one. I have seen a few ebay aftermarket versions but they have mixed reviews. I have seen some OEMs but most say 2005 or newer. Is there an OEM part # that would be for a 2004? Can I assume something that fits an 05 would fit my 04? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

 

Any will fit all years that are factory carriers. They usually always have one on eBay. Here is one and this is what you will pay for a good used one. Usually anywhere from $600-$1200 shipped. At this price it’s not a bad deal -

The license plate light harness (included in this one) passes through the bumper cover - I can send a pic if you need of the drill spot.

thank you so much! I had looked at that and thought it might be the one but I didnt want to get stuck with something I would have to modify or return. Your information has made me feel better about my decision. I would appreciate the pic of the drill spot if you can send it as I plan to do the install myself. I would prefer a side mounted license plate if possible because I want my wheel to be visible and not covered by the oem version. Any suggestions there?

 

If you go “off the beaten path” for relocation of the rear license plate, you could most likely just use a generic license plate/light holder as appears here - you can catch power right behind the bumper under the truck so no need to use the “normal” carrier harness as that won’t work if you go that route.
see below pic for mounting idea, this appears to be a non”oem” Carrier and the original you want goes a tad more to the left. You may not have enough room for a side mount without it looking “odd”. Wait til you get carrier mounted to see if you have any room left without it looking “wrong”
