o2 sensor failing? no check engine light
Random misfires caused by sticking valves mostly occur at operating temp.
a few months back i bought a faulty Duracrap radiator cap...long story short my radiator exploded and coolant got sucked through my intake and made a beautiful white cloud of smoke out the exhaust.....coolant is a great detergent for valves right? lol
My 08 is approaching 100k miles, while its on Biden's gas hiatus I decided to replace all of the O2 sensors and the spark plugs. At the same time I cleaned the Throttle body plus checked all the vacuum lines and cleaned and siliconed all the wiring.
Before I started my 08 was running well without any issues and I do keep close watch on mileage. I always use premium fuel (only because that's whats recommended for the L82). After completing this maintenance I noticed a couple of interesting thing,
my 1/4 mile acceleration (according to my edge monitor) dropped 4 tenths of a second (which I know is really nothing) but the big difference was I actually gained 1.1 mpg over the last tank full of fuel, again not much to speak of.
The best thing is I noticed the H2 appears to run smoother and also seems to have a little more mid range power. I know in the world of cars sometimes if it ain't broke don't fix it but in my case I am glad. And yes $250.00 in parts buys (or least it used to) buys a lot of gas.
Personally, I really don't care, the H2 gets whatever it needs and always will. Either way, it doesn't brake the bank and its a recommended maintenance item that has a direct connection to performance and fuel economy.
