Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Default New owner - 2006 SUT

Just took delivery of a 2006 SUT.
72,000 miles.
Midwest vehicle. Lots of rust evidence underside - someone undercoated it at some point. Body, doors jams/sills, look amazingly good. Interior is beyond my expectations as well. Engine bay needs detailing. And there is some "paint peeling" on the rocker rails and rear tire carrier. However - they seem solid. New BF Goodrich TA spare. General 315/70 r17 on the four corners. Wheels been repainted - evidence of rust.

Anyone care to offer up a priority list of "to do" items.
Oil change
New wipers
Check brake pads/rotor
Check analyze radiator fluid
Coolant flush

Thanks...

Other than the hood, the body is aluminum. Probably a good thing if you live in the rust belt. If everything checks out and do the routine maintenance on it, should be good to just drive it 😀

As for the rust on the frame rails and everything else underneath, you can take your time detailing that I'm taking care of it. There's several coatings you can use once you get the rust off. Einst

If you roll around under the frame all the way around the vehicle you'll find several ground points. Was just thinking about all the rust you referenced. Wouldn't be a bad idea to clean those up to prevent future issues. Search The forum for H2 ground locations.... The list has been uploaded a couple times

Thank you. I am researching POR15, Rust Bullet and Zeibart.
I suspect after closer review this evening that the selling dealer simply had it on a hoist and rattle canned the underside. Evidence via the locations of hoist contact with zero paint spray.

The vehicle reminds me of a nice gem stone set into a long worn ring. With the body exterior, door sills, interior, etc being the gem stone (and looking amazingly good) with the frame/underside being the well worn ring.

I "think" the robustness of the frame(s) should have withstood serious winters - and as you write...I can work on addressing the undercarriage over time.

There is no denying a "cool" factor in its pressence/stance.

I have noticed a fluid leak under the passenger front - behind the bumper. Appears clear. I will need to investigate that further in the morning. Checked the oil and it looks darker than the fluid on the ground. Will be replacing that regardless.

Again - appreciate the reply.

Well, the choices for fluid leak on passenger side behind the front bumper are fairly limited.
1. Transmission lines going to the radiator
2. Lower radiator hose leaking
3. Coolant overflow bottle overflowing... Or leaking
4. Condensation from the ac lines

Put a piece of white paper on the ground to see what color it really is. If it is in fact clear, it's just condensation running down the metal AC line from the receiver dryer up at the firewall.

Thank you. Further inspection this morning in daylight shows red. Location implies perhaps the trans lines to the radiator.
