Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

I ordered new spark plugs this morning. Probably not needed but I wanted to see how the old plugs are burning. I got AC Delco iridium 41-162 I believe. Autozone has them at 7.99 and AC Delco has a 3.00 rebate per plug limit of 16 plugs. Great time to change plugs and they will never be cheaper after rebate. Takes 6 to 8 weeks but you will get it back.

They are great, just make sure they are correctly gapped as that makes a world of difference. I believe they should be .40 (?)

I got the plugs installed and it was pretty easy with the fender liners out and I was able to lay across the tire and get them all. Old plugs looked really nice and are burning even. I was looking underneath to see what they did when installing the gears and nothing looks out of place or beat up. I think I have a transmission leak, maybe 2? I have fluid on the bottom of the bell housing around the 2 small inspection covers and on the bottom of the pan. I replaced the pan because I thought it was leaking a little bit because it’s a stamped flange. I cleaned it off and tomorrow I will drive it and then see if I can find it. I really don’t want to pull the transmission and transfer case. I can’t get it in the garage and I don’t like doing it in the driveway without any help. Every time I need a tool or anything else I have to get it and it wears me out.

I took a short drive and got under it and had a look around. The pan is definitely leaking at the back towards the center. I could have pinched the O-ring when I was installing. It got stuck a little bit because of the exhaust and maybe when I pulled it out to drop the exhaust I messed it up. It looked fine but who knows? When I remove it I will see if the transmission surface is flat and the pans not hitting anything. Monday I will call Mag Hytec and get a new O-ring and start over. I took the small inspection plate off and felt inside as far as I could reach and I didn’t get any fluid so I don’t think the front seal is leaking and that’s great news.

The gears are a big improvement and I can feel the difference just taking off normal. They didn’t put the diff cover on because they said it would hit the sway-bar or maybe trackbar? I will check it out tomorrow and see if it’s BS or not.

I pulled the transmission pan and I looked at the surface of the pan and the transmission and everything looked fine. I did feel a small bump on the Oring but I don’t see how it could be the source of my leak. I did notice that the surface of the transmission is very narrow in the back where the leak is. I installed a ACDelco pan gasket with the Oring and reinstalled it. I thought about taking the Oring out but I thought it would be less likely to leak with it in. I will go put a few miles on it and see what happens. I am pretty sure that my front seal is leaking a little bit and I hate to think about pulling it out. I would probably rebuild it while it’s out but I haven’t thought about it enough to make a decision.

I got the new o-ring for the pan yesterday and I pulled the pan again this morning and installed new o-ring and I noticed a small tear in it close to where I thought the leak was coming from. I still think the front seal is leaking on the transmission because I can feel fluid when I feel up in it. I hope it makes it to the beach and back. I will probably have it rebuilt while it’s out. I was looking at monster in a box and it’s rated for 650hp and 600tq and that’s more than I need. I will get a 2,300 stall converter from them also. I will have Bobs Transmission install the kit for 500$ and I don’t know if I will pull it myself or have Bob do it. I would like to save a 1,000$ doing myself but I don’t have a lift or any help, I can’t even get it inside and that leaves me in the driveway that’s on an angle with the back on jack stands.

I feel your pain. I also only have a driveway and its angled so pain in the *** to do anything. but I have swapped 3 engines and a transmission swap there in the past. just not ideal. the only other flat spot I have to work in is occupied by my old series 3 jaguar. the old girl needs a new home.i can't have 2 vintage cars to maintain with no garage the other being my 2003 H2.

I need to pour a slab get a vinyl shed and get the quads, 3wheelers, bikes, scooters, go cart, axles, paddle tires and everything else that’s not being used. I have a Jeep project that I want to continue on and I just don’t have the room here like I did at my dream home that was consumed by divorce. I sure do miss my house. Hahaha! I have a 3 car garage but I have large items that I really can’t do anything with but keep moving them around.
