Default Is this LCD Instrument Panel Real?

There is a seller from China selling a replacement LCD instrument panel - plug and play - on Ebay. Says no programming and works on 03-09…
Looks like this company moved ahead with a project that @Rotech had proposed in this thread, but then dropped...

Red flags?
* No programming? I thought GM dash clusters had to be programmed?
* Question if an instrument cluster that works on 03-07 will also work on an 08/09

Need @bronxteck to weigh in...

But has anyone tried it? $1700 is steep for an experiment.

I talked to the seller... they clarified that it does not work with the Hummer H2 2008-2009... only 2003-2007...

Does it work without causing issues?

Here's the link to an eBay seller who is selling the cluster. I would hate to be the guineapig and spend that type of money to get something the doesn't work or causes other problems. For instance how does it know your mileage (it's allegedly stored in your old cluster). After how many drive cycles will problems present themselves. It says you only have 7-days to return it - that's a problem. How long will it actually work for?
They need to provide more information, more guarantees, and warranty (1-5 years would be nice). Then I would go for it - it is pretty darn cool.

The Non Starter for me would be the 7 Day return thing. What happens if it craps out on day 8? I think at that point ebay would refund your money. The other thing is what you mentioned.....How does it know the mileage of your rig? Plus how will the rest of the massive electronic nightmare in the HUMMER deal with a invader to it's system? What will the ECM think?

I think it's a nice try and it is expensive but not for me with dancing graphics.

I was very intrigued with this. If it actually worked and there was a video of it actually in an H2 fully functional, I would buy it tomorrow.

I reached out to both the ebay seller and the aliexpress seller (where they actually want $1600-2588 on that site). It was classic China...ask 20 questions, get a half reply about one. I was able to find extremely similar units (real life videos) on YouTube of these Chinese clusters made for BMW, Volvo, etc.

Regarding programming, they claim "We adopt the method of retaining the original vehicle cluster mainboard, thus preserving all original vehicle data and functions". Anyone knows who has had to replace the cluster before, the miles are programmed into the cluster's EEPROM or whatever it is.

From what I've gathered in videos of their clusters for other makes, it is using "manual correction" and allows you to type in whatever mileage you would like your odometer to say. At any time you can adjust this.

They have many other similar dash clusters for other vehicles running $300 up to $1300. I'm not sure how they came up with such a high price for the H2.

I did get answer on this...the yellow hummer on the dash, the color cannot be adjusted. It will always be yellow. They didn't answer about why they are showing tire pressure monitoring readings on screen....when my 2007 has no pressure monitoring system...

If they want to sell me one for 80% off, I'll risk connecting it and see what happens and make a video of it. Otherwise, pass from me. Too sketchy and too high priced when there is no actual real-life video showing this thing and how well or bad it functions.

Well let's see. You can unplug your cluster and send it off to have the stepper motors replaced..... And the vehicle drives just fine, you just don't have any gauges. Basically it just receives information from the ECM or whatever for you to look at, and doesn't report anything back to the ECM. So I don't see how it could create any issue on the rest of the electronics. If I remember correctly, I think the cluster does have to be programmed with the correct VIN number.... That would suggest the purpose for that is that it's like a password for the ECM so it can display with the ECM is telling you on the gauges.

Ouch on the price.... But very intriguing. Well we all tend to have a stereotype of stuff from China being cheap, they do in fact have some very high-end stuff. It's hard to take that gamble without a lot of feedback.

Looks like Predator just came out with a digital dash for the H1... let's see what they do for the H2!

Interesting. I hope they upgrade the quality; that screen resolution is horrible.
