Default Lazy gas gauge

So lately i havent been driving the h2 much as i am trying to keep the mileage down. Everytime i start it within the last two months, the low fuel alarm chimes and lights. Then within 30secs or so the gauge slowly climbs up to the fuel level. Im thinking it may be a corrosed connector to the fuel sending unit? Or my cluster is about to cack.

Anyone go through this before, thoughts?

The sending unit failing is a common source to your issue. Does it happen when the tank is full?

Cluster is also a common issue (as well as on all of the GM trucks and SUV's that use the identical cluster). The stepper motors for each of the needles starts going out. Fairly easy to replace if you are decent with soldering. A lot easier than dropping the fuel tank to replace the sending unit for sure but it could be either.

Possibly, if the issue still occurs on a full tank. The lower part of the sender gets excessive wear when users running the tank low and only add a few gallons at a time, as shown here:

Hummerz compare your fuel-guage to the broken ACD part Rock sent, yours looks superior quality, do you its P/No and/or Manufacturer?

The pic was for reference('04 A4), I've replaced many that were far worse.
No sign of any wear on your sender.

I just filled up and it it reacted as it should and came up quickly. I never let my vehicles run below a quarter and usually fill it at 1/2. It seems ro me that vehicles run better on the top half and its cheaper to fill. Thanks for the reply and pic. Most likely my issue.

I've always advised that, never run low, since the fuel pump will always be submerged in fuel, keeping it from overheating and failing.
