Default Interior gauge lights staying on

My battery recently started draining over night and noticed when I shut and locked my H2 the gear box, climate control, light switch and steering wheel lights have been staying on. I have not noticed this because my windows are tinted and all the dome/door lights go off.
where do I go from here because they won’t shut off?
thanks

Default Thanks for your response

I did just have an aftermarket viper alarm installed and noticed the battery draining after that. But it did get better for a while it seemed. Now this last time I noticed that those lights were on and maybe I did not notice it before because it was not nighttime out when searching for something being on.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks

maybe you should have the installer check their install over. maybe tapped into somewhere in the wrong spot.

Just a thought, check you instrument panel dimmer control, if the thumbwheel is all the way up the interior lights will stay on with the doors closed, not exactly sure how long (10 mins maybe) but long enough to seem permanently on.

This... it stumped me the first time it happened.

I tried keeping the thumb wheel down and left it down for a few hours before bed and lights stayed on but hummer did start no problem.
My abs lights and traction control lights are now on. I unhooked the battery the other day and this seemed to help but only for a day. I guess these are just the quirks I need to learn about and fix on a 23 year old truck. I am going to go back to my sound audio technician and see where the battery is draining from.
Thanks Guys
Any idea which routes I should take mounting some aftermarket nerf/running boards? I recently ordered a pair thinking they would mount to the frame but my H2 came without the factory rockers. The only system I had luck finding was
Rocky Road Outfitters in Utah there rock sliders could be used as step ups it seems because they mount directly to the frame. Any input or ideas would be appreciated.

Gavin ocean Breeze
Thanks for the input but not all my interior lights are staying on. I know that my light wheel is down and not on because when I turn it on all the lights come on the big dome lights and map lights. When I shut the door all ot those go out like it is supposed to. But my passenger airbag light, shifter, climate control lights and a few other small amber background lights stay lit. Im not sure what to do or what is giving them this power.

Someone recently screwed around with the wiring? Maybe power back-feeding to your dash lights from an insanely bad wiring hack job? Just a guess.

Roman3301 a bit more info please:-
  • model year?
  • are all the lights stock e.g. not LEDs?
  • has any other aftermarket kit added, apart from the viper alarm?
  • model number of the viper alarm ?
  • was the installer experienced with hummers e.g. a reputable company?
sounds like something's changed, so the question is it a failure or a modification? If the latter it's whodunit and what did they do?

So many factors here, however if the viper system is accessible it would be good to trace where the wires go, or better still get the installer to provide the info.
